Junior Operator’s License Requirements

Junior Operator’s License (JOL)

In order to obtain a Junior Operator’s License (anyone under the age of 18) you must complete all requirements to receive a Driver’s Education Certificate from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Driver’s Education Certification Program includes:

-30 hours classroom instruction -On road instruction and observation* (see below) -Parent/Guardian Information Session

* If you obtained your Learner’s Permit before September 1, 2007 – you must complete:  – 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction

– 6 hours of observation (of another student).  – OR ­

* If you obtained your Learner’s Permit after September 1, 2007 – you must complete:

12 hours of behind the wheel instruction

6 hours of observation (of another student).

Parent/Guardian Information Session

REQUIRED Parent/Guardian Information Session

One parent/guardian is required to attend a two-hour information session prior to the licensing of their son/daughter (if under age 18) if the permit was obtained September 1, 2007 or after.

* Please Note: Students over 18, obtaining a driver’s education certificate, are not required to have a parent/guardian attend for them.

Please check our website for upcoming parent/guardian information session dates. Parent/Guardians may attend the information session at any time (before, during or after their son/daughter takes the classroom session.)

Parent/Guardian Information Session – Offered at NO CHARGE for parents/guardians of students who complete the classroom AND driving with Beverly Driving School.

Two-hour Parent/Guardian Class Fee:  $40 (If classroom OR driving was taken at another driving school.)
